What information do I get when I scan a product?
Each scan gives you a complete overview of the product: an overall health score, detailed nutrition facts, a full ingredient list with explanations in simple terms, additives added and its health risks, and any allergen warnings. You can also see what makes the product good or what could be improved, helping you make better choices for your health.
How does Pickwell calculate product scores?
Pickwell analyzes products using a method that is also used by Yuka that evaluates nutritional content, ingredient safety, and processing level. Each product receives a score from 0-100, with higher scores indicating healthier choices. The score considers factors like nutrient balance, ingredient safety, additives risk factors, and processing level. We also provide detailed explanations of what contributes positively or negatively to the score, helping you understand exactly why a product received its rating.
Are food and cosmetic products scored differently?
Yes, Pickwell uses different scoring methods for food and cosmetic products. Food items are evaluated based on nutritional content, ingredient safety, and processing level. Cosmetics are assessed on ingredient safety, potential allergens, and processing level. Both use a 0-100 scale but with category-specific criteria to ensure accurate and relevant evaluations for each product type.
How does scan history and offline access work?
Every product you scan is automatically saved to your history locally on your phone. You can quickly look up products you've scanned before, compare different items, and access detailed information - all without an internet connection. While you need internet for your first scan of a product, your entire scan history is available offline afterwards, letting you check previous scans and make informed shopping decisions anytime, anywhere.
